Great article. I love to dive into everything I can get on article marketing. The only thing that I would add, which is just opinion, but I usually choose to use copywriting skills in my title to get more clicks. This doesn’t always give me the opportunity to get my keyword in the title, but it does get loads more clicks per blog entry through syndication. And I haven’t noticed a large difference in the SEO juice since I have started using my new article marketing strategy. Not just with blogs, but my articles always seem to rank about the same in Google either way. I do always get my keyword at least 3 times in the body.

Interesting concept. Article marketing reminds me of the old “numbers game” in sales: contact and expose too as many people and in as many places as possible. Based on what I understand about what Google tries to achieve, I wonder how effective article spinning will remain. It’s like a battle of technologies; if the algorithm recognizes this as a new type of duplicate content, it may not work. I don’t see how article spinning helps with regard to providing useful information, it’s just a way to expose it more across the web. Would one, well optimized article in one place–that ranks–be just as effective?
It really depends what you are promoting. For a new domain, I usually just place a couple links per week from quality sites such as ezinearticles. So in that case one well optimized article can do a lot. If it’s a site on blogger or wordpress.com, squidoo, or any other site where Google is used to seeing lots of backlinks I’ll most often create way more backlinks (using spinning and automation software).
